Men in Print, Essays in Literary Criticism, printed by the Golden Cockerel Press, is a collection of five essays written (initially pseudonymously) by T. E. Lawrence, better known to us as Lawrence of Arabia. Compiled and introduced by T. Lawrence’s brother, A. W. Lawrence, and printed in the midst of war in the 1940s. The book is a wonderful homage to Lawrence’s literary legacy, as well as his enthusiasm for the Private Press, honouring the fifth year of his death. The book is a shining example of the enduring ethos of the Private Press, in no way lacking in quality despite the advent of war.
