No. 861/1000 copies. I: The Thesis, II: The Letters. This set reproduces Lawrence’s Undergraduate thesis written during his time at Oxford in the first volume. The letters, drawings and photographs sent to his mother on his solo research expedition to Europe and the Middle East make up the second volume. Loose envelope of two fold-out maps of Upper Syria and Palestine included. Compiled, edited, and introduced by Lawrence’s brother A. W. Lawrence, this work was printed privately by the Golden Cockerel Press.

 

Quarto. Housed in a sturdy black, gilt-titled, drop-over box, the volumes themselves are in Very Good condition. The spines are fresh, bright, and unmarked. Cloth covers are toned and occasionally spotted. Morocco edges somewhat rubbed in places. Contents itself is clean and bright, with occasional foxing throughout. Maps in superb condition, with their envelope foxed. In all a lovely set of Lawrence’s thesis and research letters.
